No more speculation on the skin of dolphins held at Zoomarine

The Council of State has upheld the ban on swimming with dolphins in dolphinariums, rejecting an appeal from Rome's Zoomarine.

This decision is a victory for LAV which had already obtained a ban on this practice in 2019.

The Council of State ruled that there is no evidence that swimming with dolphins has no contraindications for the health of the animals and the safety of people.

Zoomarine, to reintroduce this practice, had created its foundation and launched a scientific project in collaboration with the University of Bologna.

However, we complained that this scientific project was nothing more than a mini experience in the water with dolphins, in which the paying public could encounter the animals directly.

We have recently notified an appeal for the annulment of this project as well, and we will continue to fight for the abolition of dolphinariums, which are already banned in several European countries.
