Fur: collapse for consumption and price. Fur industry is in crisis

By Summer, Kopenhagen Fur (the main auction house in which millions of raw furs are marketed annually) will have to reduce its staff (as announced by the Copenhagen Post).

A predictable "news": thanks to the awareness of consumers about the suffering of animals exploited for the production of fur, and the consequent response of the final producers, the fur market is suffering a significant contraction with important sales slumps in all distribution channels (fashion stores, fur stores, large-scale distribution, and e-commerce).

A negative trend also confirmed by the Italian Fur Association (AIP), which annually publishes data on production and consumption trends and which show the decrease in retail consumption (in Italy) from 1.6 billion euros in 2006 to just over 800 million euros in the 2018.
In the last 12 years, retail sales have therefore fallen by 50%.

Even the prices of raw fur (mink, but not only) continue to lose value.
Kopenhagen Fur recorded the collapse of the average price (mink) from 76.90 euros for the 2012-13 season, to 27.62 euros for the 2017-18 season.

Many global fashion companies have already renounced the use of animal fur, some of which have announced to go fur-free thanks to the constructive dialogue that LAV has been able to manage in these years, becoming the reference stakeholder for the main fashion companies:
